Ok, it’s ranting time for David.
Rant #1 – Windows and IE. The other day, I set up some forums for our new linkshell in FFXI. That’s all fine and dandy. My issue is, the theme that we’re using works fine in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and I’m sure any other non-IE based browser. But as soon as you fire up the forums in IE, boom, the theme gets jacked to hell. It’s not too bad, just the User Control Panel bar isn’t sized properly, and it overlaps the header by a few pixels horizontally. It just proves why I hate IE even more. read more »
I made it through the entire month of August without making a single post!
So, since the last post… Shannon hit 75 on her Paladin, I hit 75 on my Blu! Yay! We’ve done a few Dynamis runs, but the shell we’re in isn’t very full, so we’re usually running with a bit less than a full alliance. But we’re doing alright. We also did a few assaults last weekend, and we should be doing them weekly with Mel, Kys and Solly now, so that will be fun. Other than that, I can’t think about anything else really ffxi related.
Since I purchased a MacBook Pro back in the middle of June, I was given the option to purchase the “Up-To-Date” program from Apple

Heh, I did it again. It’s been a week and I didn’t post! HA! So, let’s go ahead and do a long post. And….. start:
Work is going great. There’s a lot of new things I’m getting involved with, and we really have some sweet things coming out within the next month or two that I’m really excited about. As much as the conversion sucked at first, I’m really starting to settle in, and I still love my job. This is really the first job that just about every day, I wake up and I don’t dread going in to work. Sure, there’s always days where it would be nice to just stay home and spend the day with the girls, but I really enjoy the work I do, and I’m happy there…. now if only the freaking trip down there wasn’t such a pain. It’s either leave home read more »
Firefox has been pissing me off a lot lately, both at home and at work. I find that when I load a webpage (not any particular page, just random pages here and there), firefox is crashing a LOT and when I tell it to reload the tabs from the session, sometimes it will load them, sometimes it’ll just keep crashing. I’ve even done a fresh install of Firefox, no extensions, no bookmarks, no preferences…. nothing, just a brand new, completely clean install of Firefox, and boom, it crashes. This is only happening on Windows too. I didn’t have any issues at all on OS X.
So, as of now, Chrome is my default browser. I’m going to miss some of my extensions, especially the web developer’s toolbar, firebug, and greasemonkey, but hopefully when plug-in support comes to Chrome, I’ll be able to find a good alternative (or Chrome port). I’ll switch back to Firefox here and there if I need to, and maybe I’ll try out FF3.5 when it’s finalized, but for now, I’m sticking with Chrome.
… and I’m still rockin. Today was my birthday, it was nice. I went in to work and left early so I could come home and spend some time with Shannon and the girls, then we dropped the girls off at their grandparents and Shannon and I went out and had a really nice dinner at Outback. Overall, it was a nice day.
Right now I’m in the process of setting up a clean install of Leopard on the Mini and updating it with the 10.5.7 release that was put out today. read more »
Got my hands on Windows 7 build 7100. It seems a lot faster than the previous Beta, and it still pwns the pants off of Vista. I might post some screenshots, but really, not much has changed visually, just some small tweaks that I can see here and there. I’ll do some poking around and if I find anything of interest, I’ll post it.
So, I haven’t posted in a while (big shocker there, right?), and I haven’t used Twitter all that much. So what’s been going on that’s kept me away from Twitter and this blog (not that I honestly use this thing that much anyways)?
1. Work – They changed around my schedule a bit, so now instead of working a kickass morning shift (6-2:30) and missing pretty much any traffic both in and out of work, I now work 8-4:30 and hit traffic both ways. Yay. I might look in to taking the train…. I’d be gone just about as long as I would be when I drive, but I wouldn’t have to deal with traffic, parking, and everything that goes along with driving in to work, plus, I hear the train is nice and they have free wifi and outlets to plug in my shizit.
