iPhone OS 3.0 Beta

Unfortunately the SDK for the 3.0 Beta requires an intel-based Mac, so I’ll have to wait before I can start developing for it…. in the meantime, I’m going to start learning more about objective-c. From what I hear, it’s pretty easy to pick up from c, c++ and/or c#, so hopefully it’ll be pretty easy.

I haven’t been very active with my blog really. I update my twitter here and there, but not too often. There’s really just not much for me to say these days. It’s usually me working, driving, spending time with the girls, or sleeping. Shannon and I started up our FFXI accounts again, and we’ve been playing that when we get time. Other than that, there really hasn’t been much going on. If something worthwhile happens, I’ll post about it.

No Post Title For You!

Ugh…. been a while since my last post again, huh? I’m still using twitter, but not as much…. I honestly didn’t think I’d use it that much though.

So I’ve been having some fun with my iPhone. I think I finally got it all tweaked out how I want it, I got a picture of the current setup now, and I’ll link to it later. Also got Shannon and iPod Touch (Second Gen) that we’re gonna leave alone as far as the firmware.

I really haven’t played much FFXI at all :’( I need to either start playing more, or just cancel the account for now until I decide to play more.

Windows 7 Beta is out… it’s pretty freakin awesome. I can’t wait until it’s released. For once, I’m actually excited about a Microsoft product! SHOCKER!

Anyways, here’s the link to my current iPhone setup. There was a Hextrip show tonight that apparently a lot of people wanted me to go to…. oh well, sucks to be them :) I’m off to bed….. goodnight

Update : After some more tweaking of my icons, I think I FINALLY have my themes setup how I want it until something else catches my eye. Check out my new setup here.

It's about time…..

It looks like the third time is the charm for me and my iPhone. I’ve inspected this one a bit and it looks like I finally got one with no dead I’d stuck pixels, yay!! Now to tinker some more and add some music.

Also, we made a snowman at work on our lunch, and once I get them uploaded to picasa, I’ll post a link here and my twitter.

Out for now… Happy holidays everyone!!!

Snowed In *sigh*

Stuck at home today cuz the snow is blocking me in :( On one hand, it’s nice cuz I get some time with Shannon and the girls, but I hate calling out of work, especially just because of some snow, but our poor little focus just can’t handle 20 foot snow piles in the driveway (may be a *little* bit of exaggeration).

Anyways, I posted some pictures of my new toy here, although, I found a couple dead pixels, so I’m gonna have to make a trip to the Apple store to see if I can get a replacement. There’s a few things I’m not really a big fan of with it (No multimedia text messages, no video recorder, the widescreen keyboard only works for safari) and it looks like a lot of that has actually been “added” with jailbreaking them (unlocking them for third-party apps that Apple hasn’t given the ‘thumbs up’ on), but I’d prefer not to mess with that, I’ll just suck it up and enjoy it how it is :)

BTW: My wife is awesome and I love her very much :-*

Ok…… after a big “whoops” the other day…. it looks like I got everything back up and running…. click the new screenshot for a link to my picasa gallery. I tried flickr, but I just don’t care for it.

I just remembered why I don’t get ballsy and install alpha operating systems….. something goes wrong with my repartition and I end up wiping my main partition :( My music…….. :’(

Wanna see what I bring to the party?

Just a little teaser. Clicky for the full res.

Win7-1

Win7-2

I only have it running in a vm right now, and since it’s the x64 build, I have no lan drivers :( We’ll see how the x86 build goes later. Rumors were, Win7 was supposed to be purely x64, but the releases so far have been both x86 and x64, so we’ll see. That’s not to say they won’t drop x86 support once they get into the betas, they didn’t allow use to have the x64 build of longhorn for quite some time, so I guess we’ll see. I might brave wiping my secondary partition and try this on the actual system…. we’ll see. Be prepared for more screenshots to come though.

Oh yeah, even with it still being an alpha, it’s owning my Vista SP1 VM with speed. I even set the Win7 VM to 512MB and it’s holding up well to the Vista VM @ 1GB. I think I’m really gonna like Win7.

Arrrr, it be that day again mateys!

Yes…… today is Talk Like A Pirate Day!!! ARRRRGH! And since it’s my day off, I feel the need to watch as much of the Pirates of the Caribbean as possible.

In other news, I got all my BLU AF armor, we pwnd Ifrit for Ifrit’s sword that I can use at 65, and schooled Leviathan and set the record so far (on watersday even, fun)…. Shannon’s got her first job with full AF, so that’s exciting.

I’m also working on a website for Hextrip. My boss and one of my co-workers are two of the four member band, and I offered to help out with their site, so that’s fun.

Not much else other than that, Imight actually post again within the next week or two, who knows?

Superfetch? More like SuperF@#$!

Posted in Gaming, General, Rants, Vista on August 27th, 2008 by David K – Be the first to comment

David just got very pissed off at Vista. I was probably about 5 minutes away from ending a good beseiged run, getting me closer to my next level, then POL decides to crash….. When I came home today and fired up my PC, I was greeted by a message telling me I’m running low on memory, and Windows needed to close a program, which is just happened to chose POL…. So I closed some other apps in order to salvage POL. Well, apparently it didn’t like that, so just crashed the damn thing. I fired up good ol’ task manager and saw that 78% of my RAM was being used….. what the hell?!?! This was only running ffxi, AIM and winamp. I usually don’t get anywhere higher than ~65%, even when running other apps, including firefox. So I did some research and found out svchost was sucking a lot of the RAM down…. the lovely thing about svchost is that it’s pretty much the core for a lot of Windows Services….

Anyways, long story short, it turns out that Microsoft’s “awesome” new feature Superfetch was the cause for all my problems. I disabled it, rebooted, and now I’m back to how it should be….. That’s just awesome.

Moving along, check out hextrip.com….. Erik and Rick from work are in the band, Erik’s on bass, Rick’s guitar and vocals. I’ve been to all their shows, it’s awesome. They just got the website up, and are recording an EP this week, so check it out!

Update 1: Hmmmm…. maybe it was something to do with my paging file getting disabled……

Update 2:Oh sweet, so it turns out TrueCrypt, which I use for my USB drive for stuff for work, has an option to disabled the windows paging file….. nice. Problem fixed
